                  Description

The Shoei Neotec 2 helmet finds ways to improve upon an already exceptional modular touring helmet. Exhaust outlets complement the upper air intake vents for improved air flow. Wind tunnel testing optimized the Neotec 2's aerodynamics to perform in a variety of riding positions. The integrated shell spoiler is repositioned to better reduce lift and drag at speed, while the Aero Deflector along the chin bar adds stability. A micro ratchet chin strap makes securing the helmet and removing the helmet quick and easy. Noise Isolator cheek pads improve the seal along the neck opening of the helmet to keep turbulent air out. The 360 Pivot Locking System secures the chin bar in the down locked position and a multi-piece EPS liner made out of varying densities of foam absorbs impact energy. The Shoei Neotec 2 is designed to integrate with the Sena SRL Communication System for a clean and low profile installation. All of these features combine to produce one of the ultimate long distance touring helmets.

                  Aerodynamic Shell Design

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just love it! This is my fourth helmet so far and this is the best of all. To help you make your decision, I was riding a Shoei RF-1200 and RF-1000 (not mentioning the first one) previously and so far this is the best I got. During summer until late in fall I commute to work everyday and I've already put ~2000 km on it and can really appreciate it. You cannot do track with this helmet (not Snell certified) and it isn't the purpose. It is a great helmet to do long distance riding. It is roomier than RF-1200/1000 at the chin which help preventing fog in prescription glasses. Pin-lock is excellent in day time since it really make a huge difference when temperature drop and humidity in the air is high. The downside of pin-lock is the halow you get at night which can be annoying but it has nothing to do specifically with this helmet but more a general comment. The built-in tinted visor works perfectly and it is a great feature since you don't need to worry about carrying sunglasses with you which can be an assel some time. By far this is the quietest helmet I owned but like for any other helmet, a.s.a you open vent the noise level increase considerably but still quieter than other helmets I've owned. Operating the helmet to open/close either visor or the chin bar is extremely smooth. I don't ride with the chin bar open but I really enjoy having it open when I'm doing low speed maneuvers or stop at the gas station. The vision is excellent and not surprised since this is a Shoei. The only thing that bother me a bit when I initially star using the helmet is how soft are all mechanisms (chin bar, visor, vents...) on it. A bit too soft for me and it is likely because this is not an helmel that you'll bring on track but in cold weather and with big gloves it has its advantages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. No love is perfect. Pros: beautiful quality, all orifice controls operable with oven mitts including the chinguard release button. The ratchet is great, don't understand all the whining I read in the press. But you can't operate it with oven mitts. Smells like a proper new helmet, my Quantum II smelled like vomit when new. Includes an anti-fog screen that ACTUALLY WORKS 100%! Comfy for my weird head. Modular = airflow just how you want it, great when stuck in traffic at 30'C. Love it. Cons: a little heavy from the whole modular thing I guess, a little noisier than hoped for b/c same reason I guess (former Shoeis were RF 700 and 900, quieter). Sunshade lever is not super natural to operate, at least not yet. But I love it anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don't know any better but it's great Before this I only had cheap helmets for riding my scooter. I recently upgraded to a Triumph T100 so I needed an upgrade. My brother told me Shoei's were the best so I grabbed this one and I'm not disappointed! Very quiet and I love the modular feature. This is my first modular helmet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality helmet This helmet was purchased to replace my HJC RHPA Max helmet. I did a back to back test riding the same route on the same bike with the two helmets when I received my Neotec 2. Performance wise I was impressed with how close the RHPA was to the Neotec 2. Overall the Neotec was slightly quieter and could flow a bit more air through the vents. The seal on the Neotec is also a bit better. Weight wise my Neotec in a M weighed in at a hair over 4 lb without the Sena installed. The RHPA Max came in at the same weight with a Sena 20S installed. Quality wise the Neotec wins hands down. Not that the RHPA Max is bad, but you can feel and see the difference. I would be curious to see how the new version of the RHPA Max is like. The top vent is rather stiff and takes a bit of getting used to on the Neotec. Is the Neotec 2 better that the RHPA by almost twice the cost? That depends on whether you want to spend the extra dough. I recently received my Sena com that is built for the Neotec 2 and it fits very nicely.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems after 3 months I have worn helmets all my life. 5 previous moto helmets, military jets, downhill ski racing. The helmet fit perfectly off the shelf. Perhaps a wee snug around my cheeks. The nice young lady in sales at Blackfoot, Calgary said the pads would compact with wear. This is a known aspect of all padded (not suspension or custom Gentex) helmets and I believed her. The helmet was fine for two months, then it started having difficulty closing. Then I needed two hands to lock the chin bar in place. NOT safe on a modular helmet. I contacted Shoei, Canada with a video. They recommended thinner cheek pads. $80 bucks later I install them. No discernible difference really, though I could close the chin bar. I also found the right hand side locking pin was loose, so I tightened it myself. Frankly, for an $1100 helmet this is garbage. I am busy using weights to compact the new cheek pads, otherwise I will give the helmet to a woman I know who needs one and I will buy another brand. Blackfoot has been slightly helpful, but they do not respond with proper two way communication to emails and they required a polite push to follow up with Shoei Canada. Hey Blackfoot! If someone writes to you, please respond. That is normal social facility and a minimum requirement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Regret Was really looking forward to this helmet. Revived it really quick. The fit was perfect. Looked really good….. BUT, was the loudest helmet I have ever worn. I have several modular helmets…. A cheap no name… I also have RJC $250…… Both are much quieter …. In doing research I read the neotech was the quietest modular on the market… So unless I got one that doesn’t quite seal right…… I’m very disappointed ….

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shoei Neotec Ii This is my second Shoei modular (first was a Multitec model). Obviously I like the helmet a lot as I bought this newer version. Although the sizing is different I sized up from Small to Medium, it is the fit I have been used to. No hotspots in the forehead. I have yet to use the inner tinted shield (I like my prescription sunglasses). The helmet is equipped for a headset that I don’t use and don’t have. I was able to remove the cover you would attach to and then connect my wired Harley headset to the helmet surface. Because of the smooth plastic surfaces I used hockey tape between the surfaces to prevent the sliding around of the headset. So far so good, time will tell. I like the new strap to hold the helmet on. I don’t close my shield completely as I like the air so sound wise I have no opinion. It does seem more difficult to “crack” the shield how I want it. Airflow I have no opinion as I never seem to feel it (I never have on any helmet)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best modular so far Sizing is spot on. Quality is second to none. I really like the toggle tinted lens as opposed to the spring type....my Nolan is failing already and it's only been a year. Can't honestly find any faults with this helmet. Money well spent.

                  Questions

Is this helmet still best for intermediate oval or does it fit long oval. I bought the last generation only to return it because the top of my long oval head hurt after 30min. I settled for an LS2 that delivered a perfect fit but super noisy.
