Just wow
I had Achilles reconstruction surgery last year due to painful heel bone spurs on both heels from a birth defect. So I decided to spend some money to protect my feet properly. These boots do not disappoint. Firstly, both my feet have large lumps where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone, so I needed some extra space and padding in that area. This boot is the ONLY boot that I've tried (of many types/brands) which makes my tender heels feel safe and comfortable. Secondly, getting these boots on and off with Sidi's ratchet system is honestly just a pleasure to do. Yes, it takes some work like all bike boots, but this system makes is reasonable while providing security with confidence. The vents are great too. But the biggest WOW factor is the amazing level of ankle articulation while simultaneously providing amazing lateral protection via the 'exo-skeleton' of this boot. I had a friend try them on who has the same foot size..he was walking around my kitchen like it was nothing...constantly saying "I can't believe how easy it is to walk in these.". I haven't had to test their protection level yet, but these just give me such peace of mind when riding my bike at more aggressive levels. Toe box is 'normal' sized, so if you have a wider foot, definitely try these on before buying. I'm a size 10.5 US, so I opted for the EU45 boots and they are a few millimeters too big, but the 44s are too tight, so I think I got the best size for me. Tucking riding pants into the boots is a bit of a challenge, but I think this is the case for all boots, so nothing out of the ordinary there. Build quality is top notch.
