SW-Motech Alu-Rack Item # 274297

Description
The elegant and versatile Alu-Rack cuts a good figure as a rack. The aluminum all-rounder combined with an appropriate adapter plate provides secure grip for top cases from SW-Motech or other manufacturers, as well as SysBag 30. A simple mounting of the adapter plate on the Alu-Rack happens with just three quick-release fasteners. To secure the top case to the adapter plate in turn you just need one hand grip - thanks to the Quick-Lock quick-release fastener system. The Alu-Rack is also suitable for rigging tail bags, particularly in combination with the expansion that is available separately.
Features:
- Bike-specific development and high-precision CNC production process ensure the best fit
- Perfectly suited to the motorcycle's profile
- Laser cut from aluminum alloy
- Effective corrosion protection thanks to its powder coated surface
- Can also be used in combination with PRO / EVO side carriers and TraX side cases

Last Sw-motech Alu-rack for my African Twin
I am happy Fortnine had this rack before they were sold out, as all SW-Motech racks now are Adventure racks and didn't suit my application of adding a passenger backrest.

Perfect fit; great build quality
I bought this for a 2017 Africa Twin. If you only get one accessory related to carrying your stuff, this would be it. You can strap anything to this - from soft 'hump' type luggage, a backpack, or other products using adaptor plates. Perfect fit for the Africa Twin; finish and build quality are first rate.

Best Option for Honda CB500X rear rack
Honda OEM rear rack only available as part of kit which includes hard side bag mounts. Dealer quoted price of over $900 for OEM system. FortNine has best price on internet for this item. Instructions for SW-Motech rack indicated side pieces should be firmly mounted before rack plate is attached. However it's best to install all bolts as loose fit which allows the parts to self-align before starting final tightening. Blanking plugs for original, forward hand- hold mounting bolts could be a little better fitting and a little better finished.

Decent Rack
This rack is sturdy, and the finish is mostly good. Too bad you have to remove the passenger handles, since they are a safety feature, and the blank out plates are not the best looking. It’s also very pricey. All in all I’m fairly happy with it as it does the job it was intended to do.

Bon rack
Le fit avec ma CBF 1000a est parfait, ca donne uun look clean. Si vous avez les saccoches d'origine honda , ca prend des bolts de 100mm, celles d'origine ne sont ps assez longue.

Questions
To attach a Givi top case to the rack, what adapter will I need? Does Givi manufacture it or does SW Motech make one?
Thank you Kman for the response. SW Motech makes vehicle specific racks for this product. If you do not see one listed on our website please contact our Customer Service Department. They may be able to find the correct adapter required.
We cannot recommend to use the SW Motech one in combination with Givi as that will void the warranty for both products

Do you have to eliminate the OE handles to mount this rack?
to add to my response ... not on my 2015 BMW 1200 GS
