Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Boots The boot are pretty stiff but like all boots they do need to be broken in. After a Season of riding they fell much better an more comfortable but still a little stiff up shifting but I'm use to that now. Warm and for what wet weather I encountered my feet stayed dry. I have not taken them through a good down poor as of yet however. A little warm to wear all day long, and if you are walking over 1km they do start to chafe a bit. But for the purpose of riding a say they are pretty decent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty darn good boot Purchased for 50% off and I can’t really complain. The shifting pad does dig into my left foot when walking, but I can deal with that since it has gortex, leather and was relatively inexpensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot. Great value! These boots are quite comfortable and seem to breath well. I have been on 20+ rides since receiving them and they are great. I was worried they may be low quality due to the price, but they are well made and look super with my riding jeans. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TCX X - 5 boots Bought these for the WIFE, have not used them yet as riding season is still a month or more away. However I have the same boot and I am very pleased with them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only ridden them twice so far but they are well made and comfortable. First ride was sub-zero, second was 5 degrees. I purchased them for Spring/Fall and they are perfect for this. They fit a touch large but not enough to size down. Great deal right now on F9.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full leather, Gore-Tex Lined, Comfortable I was looking for a top rated sport touring boot, comfortable to wear and walk in, protective, waterproof, that does all that I need. I wanted full leather for best abrasion resistance, inserts in toes, ankle, shin, and sole, for impact protection, Gore-Tex for the best water protection and breathability (almost all the way to the top of the boot), good styling so I wouldn't look dorky, them to be made by a trusted manufacturer for quality and durability. These delivered. The fit is pretty spot on, where I am normally a 9 1/2, and needed to choose between the 43 (size 9) or the 44 (size 10), no half sizes, and went with the 44s, which felt a bit big, but I inserted my "Converse" brand athletic insoles (from my 9 1/2 sized Converse) that cushioned better than OEM ones (which weren't bad, but not as good), and sat slightly taller in the boot, which snugged things up perfect. The toe box is a good radius and height, not too square nor too tall, leaving good comfortable toe room but not sloppy. The side entry zipper is generous to allow easier on and off, and the velcro allows for varied tightness around the ankle at the wearers own choosing. Lots of adjustment room for foot pointing and pant cuff needs, though likely need boot cut pants to fit over top of boot, but not too much as boot top not overly wide, or one could tuck into boot with adjustment room provided. I did find that I liked the boot collar snugger, for looks and pant cuff to fit over, but then raising or lower foot (point) to position foot on shifter or brake was a bit tougher, though I found a good middle ground with the collar left a bit wider, and pant cuffs tighter too. No problem getting my Klim Traverse overpants cuff over the boots even when set wide. I also like the slight heel on the boot, as it provides a nice neutral default position for my feet on the pegs. Though the sole pattern is somewhat smooth, and not very good for off pavement, but seem pretty durable. The shifter pad on top of the big toe area is nice looking and a good size for adequate protection from marking the leather, and matching on the right boot is a nice touch of symmetry. Being full leather with lining and boot height, they are a bit warm on the hotter days, but the protection and general wear comfort make them a good choice for all weather. For cold weather they would be great, keeping warm and dry, and breathable. On very warm summer days I use my TCX Gore-Tex Mood shoes, which are more sneaker like, lighter, and less tall at the ankle. But for very heavy and long rain fall, especially on cooler days, the X-Fives are the go to. These with my rain pants, or overpants if very cold out, and either my Gore-Tex 4 season jacket, or my mesh summer jacket with a rain cover, meet all my needs in any riding weather/temps. These boots are everything they are advertised. Great quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boots Excellent boots so far! I got them near the end of the riding season, so have only used them a few times, but I’m impressed: they are very comfortable, for riding & walking, have kept very heavy rain out, & look good, too.

Questions

I am having trouble selecting a size. I wear a size 11, and I'm finding different conversion charts for EU sizing, but they vary between 43 to 45. Can you tell me which size I need in THIS boot?

Asked by: Jeff
I'm wearing 10 and I bought a 44 for a perfect fit.
