Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile Riding Pants I bought these and the same size of a popular and well-reviewed OTB MX / lightweight ADV pant from Fortnine to compare because they fill the same niche and were similarly priced. I was looking for do-all riding pants for multi-week travel on and off highway in all weather. I was attracted to the versatility of the Range Pants which come with armor, lots of vents, water resistance (waterproof claimed?) and a removable thermal liner. The other pants did not include these features. With the armor and thermal layer removed from the Ranges, the 2 pants are quite similar; they differ in weight by less than 50g. The Ranges were a tighter fit in the thighs which is noticeable with the thermal layer installed but the stretch panels in the shell work well. Other than this, both pants fit about the same. As measured by micrometer, the fabrics used in both are similar in thickness in comparable locations, although for the Range fabrics this includes the thickness of the internal laminated water-resistant layer which is unlikely to contribute much to abrasion resistance. Both fit over A-Stars Corozal boots without any problem and are easy to move in. The Range wins for ventilation control with 6 zips, for the number and placement of reflectors and for the greater waist adjuster range. Range's fly zipper has bigger teeth but appears to be non-weatherproof and has no gusset so I'd expect to get a wet crotch in the rain. Range came in second for its more limited ability to adjust around the calf and ankle, the less mud and wear resistant ankle closure, the size of the leather gripper panels and for the reinforcement of the lining behind the grippers. I did not find the Range to be inadequate for these points, just not as good. The Range Pants do not allow for adjustment of the armor position and I found the knee pads to be barely high enough. I did not find any reference to the Range Pants being waterproof or breathable on the attached tags. There the pants are labeled as water resistant. Similarly, there is a lack of specification of other materials. I could not find the weight (Denier) of the fabrics nor other descriptions beyond “ripstop” and “abrasion resistant”. The Range Pants make a crinkly noise when walking in addition to the normal swishing noise of textile pants. The "Heather" fabric is about 90% gray and 10% purple. This does not show up in the photos but is definitely purpley-gray in bright daylight. The ankle-length thermal layer attaches with a full-circumference waist zipper. There are silicone leg grippers inside the ankles but there is no ankle attachment to the shell. The liners want to pull out with your foot when undressing. The liners felt comfortable ITB and were too narrow to fit OTB for me. I liked the Range Pants and had a hard time deciding if I would keep them. I wore them around the house (unlined) and found that they were rather sweaty in spite of the great ventilation. After considering that I would still need rain pants to travel with the Range Pants, that I already carry fleece pants for sleeping and riding in cold weather, and that I suspect these pants would be very uncomfortable in hot weather, I sent them back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost perfect 2XL fit perfect on my 6'4 250 lb Dad bod. Well constructed and well priced. The quilted liner is a nice extra. Down side. The front zipper is not a storm zipper. Major omission as that is where all the water collects when you ride in the hard rain. I assume they figure the matching jacket hangs below waistline, and so does my own jacket. But that doesn't matter when your sitting on the bike. I really like them otherwise, and they are performing well in all conditions except driving rain, if they had a proper water proof crotch they would be perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bon produit Le pantalon a un bon rapport qualité/prix .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I needed all weather pants! Fantastic winter weather pants because of the inside liner. Cool in summer because of the zips (sans liner). BUT, after a ride of 500k and for 3 hours I was in heavy rain my backside was very wet. Not what I wanted. Why? I paid top dollar and could have saved my self respect in a roadside cafe because I was unable to sit down due to dripping from the backside area. Should have bought a plastic pair of leggings. Not all weather pants.
