Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4.5/5 - Great boots for an awesome price 4.5/5, but I can't do half-stars here, so I'll be charitable. Bought these about 2 months ago, and I couldn't be happier with them! I've commuted or ridden pretty much every day in these since I got them, and they've been fantastic! I've ridden these in heat, cold, dry, wet, muddy, frosty, and even snowy conditions, and these have held up great. Everything but the waterproofing has lived up to or exceeded my expectations, and all for a price that didn't break the bank. If I ever need to replace this pair, I'll definitely seek out another pair of these. Further details below: FIT I'm a size 12 1/2 typically, with a wide foot. I bought the size 13s, and these fit great. Plenty of room, but not loose once laced up. I found that with a pair or two of wool socks (my preference for longer rides in the rain), it sat snug - perfect for me, but worth bearing in mind if you're not in-between sizes as I am. Biggest annoyance here is the small opening - when new, these were really hard to get into, and I had to undo most of the laces to get my foot in. It's since loosened up a bit, but is still tight at the top. That being said, if that's the downside of a full-coverage waterproof boot, that's okay with me. RIDE FEEL & RIDER PROTECTION This is where these boots shine. They feel great, and have no obvious weak points. The toe is protected with an additional layer over the shift pedal area, which through 3 months of daily upshifting, I haven't managed to noticeably scuff. A thick tongue, stiff ankle, and armoured sides provide good protection and support, but don't impede your ride. WALK FEEL They feel nice to walk in, for sure. I found that even though I opted for a roomier fit, it didn't feel uncomfortable to walk in. The sole flexes well, and the heel provides a nice cushion. However, these are road-oriented boots, and the tread pattern is lacking in my opinion for off-bike adventures. They feel nice on the bike, but if you plan to walk on anything other than flat sidewalk, they provide less-than-desired traction. Not a huge problem, just take it easy. BUILD QUALITY AND DURABILITY So far, so good. These feel like quality boots - tight seams, good quality materials, no threads hanging, etc - and they haven't developed any issues. I did break a lace a couple weeks back - I'm not impressed with the quality of the laces, but they are easily replaceable for a few dollars. Same story for the insoles - cheap and unsupported, but again, easily replaceable. The only other disappointing thing is the hook+loop strap on the top of the boot - no issues so far, but hook+loop wears away over time, and since the strap gets used every time you put on or remove the boot, I fear that will start to wear away. A snap button would've been nicer. I have started to notice a few places where the seams are loosening slightly, but I'm not sure if those are problems that have developed, or if they were like that out of the box and I didn't notice until now - I'll update this review (if possible) as I get further along into my ownership. WEATHERPROOFING They're fine, but not great. You should be fine in light to medium showers, but I ride in heavy rains regularly, and I typically finish a ride with wet/soaked socks. Vancouver is prone to much rainfall, which translates to localized flooding - I'm regularly riding through puddles several inches deep - and these don't stand a chance. The water just pours in from the front, which is a shame. If you're not riding in heavy rain, however, they should be passable for shorter rides. VALUE This is where it's at, for me. I paid significantly under $200 for shipping to my door - I can't complain. Your bargain bin safety rated boots/shoes start at no less than $100, and it's just worth it to stretch the budget and get these. If you're in the market for a nice pair of riding boots that don't break the bank, and you're not riding in heavy rain and through standing water, get these. Big fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy and mostly warm The boots fit really well and are very comfortable. I wear them on casual day and you cant tell they are riding boots. The lace up is fiddly and often gets caught in the velcro strap but not terrible.
