I dont believe it
I have a 1985 BMW K100RS that has been sitting poorly since 2011 with a dead battery. No matter what I did, the battery was gone and dead.
I bought this charger to use as an all round charger for my car in the summer and my bike in the winter.
With all my batteries charged, i decided what the hey, ill throw this on the dead BMW battery and see what happens.
What do you know, it started to register and charge and I can actually start the bike with it. The battery behaves just like a new battery.
How long will it last? I dont care, i have a free battery because after 8 years of sitting, you would have to fork out for a battery and this time, i dont.

Very happy with the Yuasa 3-Amp Automatic Charger. Restored my completely dead battery.Put it on Yuasa 3-Amp Automatic Charger ,Fully charged the battery in 23 hrs.Bike was in storage for 8 months

Tough little charger
I bought this charger / maintainer for trickle charging purposes.
However, the first time I used it was on my Girlfriends car battery. The car sat for several days in -40C weather and would not crank the engine over. Due to the cold weather I did not remove the battery, just disconnected it. Connected the charger and left it under the hood. When I came back 20 some hours later, the battery was fully charged and started the engine without issues ( it was still cold). The -40c did not seem to effect the charger or the cord. I was very impressed.
It has also worked great at maintaining my motorcycle battery.
