Rated 3 out of 5 by from I had high hopes but was disappointed. Huge fan of Ryan and Fortnine and I thought if this jacket is good enough for him it should be good enough for me. Haven't really seen a negative review so far. Pros: -"Reasonable price"...compared to 1500$ jackets -Nice design -Tons of ventilation - Super versatile (should cover a wide range of weather from very hot to cold - Tons of pockets - Rain jacket is a nice touch Cons: - One of the cuffs on the rain jacket was sowed backwards 180 degrees so I couldn't get my hand through it. - The zipper will take some getting used to, the collar zipper is much easier to grab than the main zipper, so again, I guess over time you probably get used to it, but initially you almost need a mirror to put it on and off. -Weird sizing (full disclosure I'm not easy to dress, I'm 190lbs, 43"chest, long arms and legs (34" inseam) and went with the XL. Even with a backprotector, the torso is puffy when sitting and the cuffs of the jacket (the ones left when you remove the outer shell sleeves) are very tight so if I went large, the torso probably would have fit better, but sleeves would have been too short, and even tighter around the cuffs (I have relatively big hands, but still). They are so tight that every time I tried removing the jacket I had to hold the inside cuff or they would bunch up in the shoulder, I can only imagine on a hot sweaty day...and imagine with an extra thermal layer on a cold weather layer underneath... - The hook on the collar (maybe it was just this jacket), but it bunches up pretty badly as if hook was put in the wrong position or panel wasn't long enough to reach the hook, either way you're probably better off to keep it up, or just roll that front panel down and snap it. - The lower front pockets aren't super easily accessible, just feels kind of a stretch to access them. - No back protector included...at this price...I think they should have included one. Conclusion, overall, I think this jacket was an amazing concept, but it just feels like they haven't tested it enough before going into production and there's still some fine tuning needed. If the fit had been perfect, maybe I could have lived with some of the quirks...but combined to the fit, this was just not a good choice for me and a bit pricey considering, the price range is close to gore-tex territory where you don't have to carry a rain jacket at all. I just put the jacket on and off 2-3 times and I got very annoyed... Thankfully Fortnine is easy to deal with, I will be returning it. I do hope it fits most customers, as the jacket has a lot of potential, just clearly wasn't for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Youtube Jacket mostly meets the hype I became aware of this jacket for the same reason you probably did - Ryan F9's glowing review. But also, both my old Tourmaster Transition and my mesh jacket were in need of replacement, and this seemed like a good way to do it while also getting that sweet objective CE AA or A rating. Now that I've had the Halo for a couple of months, it has been very good at that job! Upsides: POCKETSSSSS. It's got a ton. I end up using the hoodie pocket the most. Variability. The entire point of the jacket. Customize it to your desired level of airflow and water resistance as you see fit. Airflow is fantastic. With the sleeves off and bibs down, it's little different than my dedicated mesh. Fit. I tried on the Andes Drystar in XL, that fit me really well. This is almost as good, though it's looser in the torso than I'd like. The belly band doesn't really keep the jacket close against you, it's more to keep it from flapping around if you wear it with the zip open. I still use it. Downsides: Not sure I'm a big fan of the elbow and shoulder armor being sewn onto the sleeves, makes them way harder to replace if necessary. That may have contributed to the jacket's CE single-A ranking with the sleeves off, since durability is taken into account. It's nice that there's dedicated pockets for chest and back protectors, but for the price Astars is asking, the protectors themselves could have been included. Some things that may not be immediately obvious: WATER RESISTANCE. Only the rain shell is water resistant, the main jacket has no coating or treatment whatsoever. I learned this trying and failing to outlast a rain band coming through the Rogers Pass. It'll take a little bit to soak through, in the way all heavy clothes take a little bit to soak through, but it WILL soak through. If you think you're going to encounter rain, and you don't like wet limbs, bring the rain shell or your dedicated rain gear. And put your phone in the waterproof pocket. I find the rain shell to be pretty baggy and distractingly flappy when worn on the outside, but the alternative is wet gear. WIND RESISTANCE. Goes hand in hand with the above. Thick as it is, the jacket fabric is actually a little breathable at 100, which makes it a bit colder than I expected. The rain shell keeps you warmer, so it's a good idea to use it for cold days. Or wear a sweater like your momma told you. ZIP TO PANTS. Some jackets have a short zip in back or a 300-degree zip all around to attach to your pants. The Halo doesn't do that. No short zip provided at all, and while there is an all-around zip, it's only a 225-degree one, because the placement of the jacket closure interferes with having a longer zipper that's symmetric.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket Ever If you can get over the asymmetrical zipper, this is the best single jacket I have ever bought! Hot days, cold days, wet days and even days that are combinations of all the above are comfortable in this jacket. Fortunately, I haven’t had a need to find out how protective this jacket is, but I’m sure it will be up to the task.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from an amazing coat! I was slightly scared of the price but after buying it its worth the money, I love the kangaroo pocket holds everything I need. then the addition of the side pockets are nice for things I need less commonly. the rear mesh pocket can hold a lot of things, can hold a bag of 300 Blue Whale gummy candies. the rain coat works amazing no issue of water getting me wet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite piece of gear that I own I debated whether or not to buy this jacket. In the end I have no regrets. The operation of the asymmetrical zipper takes a bit of getting to and can be hard to get started at times. But the trade off if it's comfortable when riding as the jacket doesn't bunch up. Tons of pockets! Removable sleeves for those hot days and riding off road. There are small tension bands to keep the jacket open for even more ventilation if the front and back vents arent enough. They lasted about 2 days which is a bummer and QC oversight for how much the jacket cost. But it does come with a baggy rain jacket. It does not however come with chest and back armor. I purchased Nucleon KR-Cell CiR chest protector and Nucleon KR-1i Cell back protector in large for this season which will run you another nearly $200 dollars. They fit perfectly in my large jacket and I hardly notice it's there minus a bit more rigidity. All in all I'm satisfied with the set up and hope I never have to test how well it performs

                  Questions

I see that this is advertised as an Adventure Bike jacket. Is there a reason that it wouldn't work on a Sport Tourer? Is there something about the fit that would make this uncomfortable in a slightly more forward leaning position?

                  Asked by: Peter
The jacket is advertised as an adventure jacket because it is meant to survive all types of weather and wear induced by adventure riding. The are no reason why you wouldn't be able to use this on a sport tourer. The fit of this jacket is adjustable in many places as well for optimal comfort.
