                  Description

The new Arai Contour-X helmet is designed for every modern motorcycle rider who desires dynamic race-derived performance and all-day comfort on the road. This new helmet style provides a high level of ventilation, comfort and protection.

                  Design and protection:

                  • Intermediate Oval Shape: designed for the rider whose head has a front-to-back dimension that is longer than the side-to-side dimension. This is a neutral head-shape design which tends to fit most riders well.
                  • PB-cLc-2 shell with AR-mat and Generation Z resin: reinforced, lighter and stronger construction!
                  • Wider base of 5 mm: new design making it easier to get the helmet on and off
                  • New rear spoiler: improved aerodynamics to lower the rider's fatigue
                  • Famous Arai R75 overall organic helmet shape: long-tested and well-accepted design to absorb the most energy during an impact

                  Comfort:

                  • FCS cheek pads (Facial Contour System): multiple layers of varying foam densities supported by a "spring" foam, giving extra comfort to the lower jaw and cheeks
                  • FFS chin curtain (Free Flow System): improves airflow and reduces noise, while increasing hot air exhaust
                  • Interior lining: odor resistant, antimicrobial, soft-brushed and semi-removable liner
                  • Adjustable head liner: different height levels for a custom fit

                  Ventilation:

                  • New 3D Arai logo duct: 3.5 mm embossed logo with a closable in-air intake for extra ventilation, even at low speed
                  • Air-scoop chin vent: front air intake with a replaceable inner filter and a 3-way switch option (open, midway and closed)
                  • Other intakes: brow vents and dual F1-derived tear duct on top
                  • Opening under the rear spoiler: rear air exhaust with 3-way switch option (open, midway and closed)
                  • Other exhausts: sides and neck with aerodynamic stability

                  Shield:

                  • VAS shield mechanism (Variable Axis System): moving pilot point allowing for a lower shield mount position
                  • Dual-function lever: removable cover plate and shield pin for a quick-release shield
                  • Improved VAS shield de-mist latch: captures and securely holds the shield closed to help resist unexpected opening
                  • VAS Max Vision shield: large-visibility visor with two highly efficient brow vents
                  • Pinlock lens insert (included!): clear anti-fog lens absorbing moisture, perfect for colder seasons

                  Other Features:

                  • Speaker pockets inside the cheek pads
                  • Outside Intercom accommodation: flat-designed exterior sides to fit and connect a communication system easily
                  • Neck roll wire pocket: small inner opening to tuck away any excess speaker wires
                  • ERS (Emergency Release System): integrated bright pull tabs inside the cheek pads for an easier access to an injured rider
                  • Double D-ring strap
                  • Compatible with Pro Shade system
                  • DOT and Snell M2020 certified

Note: Head liner and cheek pads are removable, but not the chin curtain and neck roll. All parts can be cleaned with lukewarm water and gentle soap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it now, but it took some work to get there. Overall, very happy with the helmet. Visibility is excellent, and the ventilation is outstanding. In fact it is almost too cold on some spring mornings. The fit was a bit surprising, however. I tried on a different "intermediate oval" Arai (Regent X) and the large was a perfect fit and extremely comfortable. I assumed that another intermediate oval would fit the same; I was wrong. The Contour was significantly tighter to the point of causing pain across my forehead. I bought the thinner (3mm) helmet liner (more $$ spent) and it helped some, but ultimately I had to compress the foam a bit in the front to get a proper fit. Now that it fits well, I really do like the helmet and it is comfortable over long rides, but it was a pain to get there. Definitely try this specific helmet on somewhere before buying, and don't assume it will fit the same as other Arai helmets of the same shape.

                  Questions

Which Arai visor fits the new Contour X?

                  Asked by: LavaRed
The Arai VAS-V series of shields are the correct compatible visors for this helmet. There is a variety of options so always check and make sure you are getting the one you want. This shield specifically states will work with the Contour X - https://fortnine.ca/en/arai-vas-v-max-v-bv-pinlock-ready-shield

Will the contour fit the same as an XD-4?  Both are listed as intermediate oval but looking for actual use case feedback before dropping the big bucks

                  Asked by: chainslayer
Similarly, since they are both intermediate oval. But they have different chin bars so you may notice some difference there. The Contour-X also features the new 5mm flare in the chin bar for easy on/off. The XD-4 does not have this feature so for your fitted size you may want to go with thicker cheek pads in a Contour-X if you’d like a more sporty/technical fit.
