Description
Arai Quantum-X helmet is purpose-built for the street. A new benchmark in comfort, quiet, stability and ventilation. Arai applied the same tireless 24-7 focus devoted to race helmets to designing it, refining and adapting proven concepts to a new purpose. On the rounder end of the head shape spectrum, the Quantum series has always been the "go-to" helmet of choice. The Quantum-X brings that shape back in a feature rich package.
Design and protection:
- Round Oval Shape: designed for the rider whose head is slightly wider than elongated
- PB-ScLc-2 shell: better performance and affordability
- Famous Arai R75 overall organic helmet shape: long-tested and well-accepted design to absorb the most energy during an impact
Comfort:
- FCS cheek pads (Facial Contour System): multiple layers of varying foam densities supported by a "spring" foam, giving extra comfort to the lower jaw and cheeks
- ES chin curtain: accentuates the egg-shaped form of the shell, blocking turbulent air from entering the underside (working with pull-down spoiler)
- Interior lining: odor resistant, antimicrobial, soft and fully removable
- Peel-Off layer of 5 mm: removable inner layer for a custom fit, giving more comfort
- Adjustable head liner: different height levels for a custom fit
Ventilation:
- Chin vent shutter: closable gate in front of the center vent to block out colder wind. Can be opened in warmer weather
- QVF Series Top Vents: 3-way front intake duct for optimal cooling and aerodynamics
- Other air intakes: brow vents
- QVR Series Top Vents: 3-way rear exhaust duct with a sliding lever for a smoother ride
- Cowl exhaust vent: sculpted directly into the rear shell shape for optimal aerodynamic characteristics
- Other air exhaust: sides and neck with aerodynamic stability
Shield:
- VAS shield mechanism (Variable Axis System): moving pilot point allowing for a lower shield mount position
- Dual-function lever: removable cover plate and shield pin for a quick-release shield
- Improved VAS shield de-mist latch: captures and securely holds the shield closed to help resist unexpected opening
- VAS Max Vision shield: large-visibility visor with two highly efficient brow vents
- Pinlock lens insert (included!): clear anti-fog lens absorbing moisture, perfect for colder seasons

Note: Head liner, cheek pads, neck roll and chin curtain are removable. All parts can be cleaned with lukewarm water and gentle soap.

Comfortable with a few minor irritants
The round oval shape fits my head and is very comfortable for me. It is a bit quieter than my old Shoei Neotec II, but I still wear earplugs. It is fairly light. The visor is difficult to raise when wearing heavy gloves. It came with a Pinlock visor so fogging has not been a problem. I don't know about ventilation yet as it has not been warm since I bought it. The earpockets are not very friendly for the installation of helmet speakers compared to the Shoei. The neckroll is quite tight and the fabric is showing some signs of wear after about 6 weeks of mostly daily use. I miss the built in sunvisor in the Shoei. I would have preferred a modular if I could have found one as comfortable as this helmet is, in white.

Great Fit & Finish
Awesome lid with very cool graphic design. Classic Arai, fits well, vents great, looks great. Only caveat I found was that the 25mm standard cheek pads felt a lot smaller then the ones in my RX-Q. Switched to the 30mm cheek pads (thankfully Shoei & Arai are great for tailored parts) and it fits like a dream. I have a 57cm noggin and wear a Medium. Crown fit great. I'll stay with Arai forever.

Pretty expensive but fits my head
The helmet is light, comfortable, and best of all fits on my head. The air ducts can blow alot of air into the helmet with everything open, and the helmet tipped downwards into the wind. The Diamond white finish has met my expectations and is very eye-catching. The stock of accessories is abysmal, requiring me to source visors and pinlocks from Japan and Aliexpress, one of which turned out to be a (high quality) knock off. Switching out visors can be annoying if it doesn't fit perfectly right, because it requires unscrewing and adjusting the ports on the helmet.
The price is crazy and you'll have to decide if its worth it for yourself. For me, it was a birthday gift. Carrying this around after you reach a destination is a different experience from your previous helmet, just because it is worth so much.

Arai et Toyota : Même combat
Arai fait des casques moto comme Toyota des voitures. Les modèles évoluent peu et l'innovation ne fait pas partie de l'équation. Pour d'obscures raisons de sécurité Arai s'obstine à ne pas proposer de visière pare soleil à l'intérieur du casque. Ils vont plutôt développer un système peu efficace, voire ridicule de pare soleil qui se fixe par-dessus la visière. Les mousses intérieures sont les mêmes que celles utilisées il y a 15 ans. Ça pique un peu mais là encore on ne change pas une formule connue même si elle n'est pas gagnante. Arai pourrait s'inspirer de Shoei pour le confort et de Schuberth pour pour le silence. Mais bon, il est beau mon Arai même si à ce prix on pourrait s'attendre à plus de confort et de silence.
