                  Description

With the MX-9 Adventure Mips, pavement is optional. This go-anywhere helmet gives you the best of both dirt and street. It's designed to adapt to your version of adventure.

                  All-Terrain Explorer

From the roughest singletrack to urban blacktop, the MX-9 Adventure Mips gets you there safely in style. Bell have taken their MX-9 and added even more capability with an integrated anti-fog, anti-scratch clear faceshield. The shield flips up and leaves enough room for goggles in extreme conditions, or it can be removed completely. Conversely, the adjustable visor can be removed for a stealth street look. Mips protection, Velocity Flow ventilation, and a removable, washable, anti-microbial liner round out a highly adaptable package.

                  Technology:

                  MIPS®

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a lidding slip-plane technology inside the helmet designed to help reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts.

                  3 Shell Sizes

Typical offering requires additional padding sizes to accommodate all head sizes.

                  Ionic+™ Antimicrobial Comfort Padding

Quick-drying interior padding helps manage sweat while using silver for odor control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crashed it, didn't die! Overall I'm happy with this helmet, but there are a couple areas for improvement. To start off, this is a great looking helmet. The graphics package is subtle and looks good without being over the top. The fit is OK. You can feel the MIPS liner inside the helmet and it's fairly prominent until it's well broken in (not a complaint really, but it s something that you're aware of as you wear the helmet). I found that the helmet had a couple pressure points around my temples that became bad on long riding days. It also fit closer than was really comfortable through my cheeks (now I freely admit that I have a bulbous head, high cheekbones, and chipmunk cheeks so YMMV). Ventilation is quite good, but it would be much better if the face shield had more adjustability. At slow speeds in hot weather I like to ride with my faceshield open one notch, but the first notch on this helmet is so high that it puts the bottom edge of the faceshield halfway through your range of vision, which is too high to offer any kind of protection from road debris. This could easily be solved by having more notches of adjustment on the faceshield. The faceshield has just the right amount of tint. I never felt the need to add sunglasses, nor did I feel over tinted in shady spots. I wouldn't want to get stuck in the dark with it, however. One consequence of the good ventilation is that road noise at high speeds is quite high. This is to be expected with this type of helmet, and the aerodynamics aren't awful as ADV lids go. The visor is completely for looks. It does look good, and lets everyone know how adventurous you are, but in terms of actually shading your eyes from the sun it is too short and sits too high on the helmet to be of actual use. The visor does provide a nice flat spot to adhere a GoPro mount. The helmet comes with the necessary screws and fairings to remove it, and the helmet looks fine without the visor as well. I crashed wearing this helmet at approximately 60-70 km/h (struck a pedestrian who ran out in front of me, went over the bars), hitting my shoulder (breaking my collar bone), head, and elbows on the pavement. This helmet performed well in the crash. I didn't even realize that I had struck my head until I removed the helmet and saw the damage. It's hard to objectively determine how this helmet performed vs how another helmet may have performed but I believe it's possible that the MIPS liner in this helmet may have prevented a neck injury based on the location and severity of the helmet damage. Overall the Bell MX-9 Adventure is a good value for money choice, which could a great choice with some small improvements. I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great helmet off-road, and on the highway. What a great helmet. It fits my long-oval head better than my Arai Signet-Q, which shocked me. I have a lot of trouble finding a helmet that fits properly, without hot-spots on my forehead, but this Bell MX-9 fit great. The other features that I like are the large visor, which allows me to get a lot more air-flow when doing adventure riding on trails, which is why I wanted a new lid in the first place. The Aria felt claustrophobic when doing active adventure riding and breathing heavy, I just couldn't get enough air to flow in. With the Bell I leave the visor up for off-roading on my Africa Twin and it flows a lot of air on my face. Surprisingly this helmet is also great on the highway. I was worried about the visor catching a lot of air at highway speed, but it doesn't. The sun-peak, or visor, has large vents at the back section and the air is able to flow smoothly and not pull backward on the helmet. I thought I would have to remove the visor for a 1600 km trip to Ohio this summer, but it wasn't necessary as the air flowed smoothly through the visor vents at interstate highway speed. Overall I'm very happy with this helmet and have no hesitation recommending it. Fortnine let me try two other helmets models/sizes before this one, and I returned them both without any hassle, thanks Fortnine, you are now my go-to source for motorcycle accessories. A big bonus was that twice, the items shipped by Fortnine arrived before the "estimated delivery date"!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best bang for buck adv lid I’ve been riding in my MX-9 adv for just over 2 years now. I have used it from -5C to +50.5C. it fits me well, but that is subjective. Although I found it to fit true to size. It is the best venting full face I have worn, even in Death Valley in the middle of summer I had no issues with getting enough air. The face shield is large enough to accommodate most goggles and offers a wide largely undistorted field of view. I found the peak to be adequate for blocking sun most of the time although it just be in the lowest of the 2 positions to do anything. Aerodynamics are good when in a smooth stream of air but can get grabby and noisy when behind a windshield that causes “dirty air”. Nothing deal breaking however. The cons. The top vents are permanently open, this allows rain to enter the helmet in heavy storms. Water tends to accumulate and pool in the ridge in the lens so you need to tilt your head to get it to drain periodically. While the lens itself is high quality, the indents arent in the best positions. I find I only ride with it fully open or fully closed. Occasionally I will ride with it one notch open to help clear fog but it puts the lens ridge in your field of view so I don’t find this ideal for extended periods of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved another brain FIRST...I hit a deer on the highway, went down and slid on my left side, had only a very minor concussion, the helmet took the impact and slide like a boss. See pic. Had this helmet a couple years, and yes it's a very good helmet for the money. Simple design, simple features, but they work. No issues with the brim at highway speed, never had problems with fogging, fairly quiet though I've had a bit of whistling, goggles fit just fine with the visor up. I had 2 visors which weren't the easiest to switch out but ok. The fit is comfortable, sizing spot on, stayed the same over time, easy to remove and wash lining. Well be replacing with another one for certain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this helmet. I already had a Bell so was happy with the fit of my open face. This one fits great as well. Love the field of view, ventilation is good. Road noise and weight is adequate. Only thing I found was glasses do not work in this helmet, absolutely not design to accommodate them. Other than that, love this helmet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits my Long Oval head perfect! If you are like me and have a difficult time finding a helmet that fits your long oval shaped head (egg shaped), then this helmet is perfect. I've owned and Arai profile (now called the signet) for 7 years. I've searched high and low for another helmet that would comfortably fit similarly and have always been disappointed - until now. My head shape fits the Bell mx-9 adventure perfect. I'm actually quite shocked how well it fits. The visual field, particularly the peripherals, is impressive; very light weight; and aesthetically pleasing. I always wear ear plugs while riding so I can't comment too much on noise. My only recommendation would be to considering purchasing a larger size up. I am a size large for my Arai Profile, but purchased an XL for the Mx-9 and it fits like a glove. Oh, it's also nice to find an affordable and reputable branded helmet that won't break the bank while knowing I feel my head will be safely protected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Helmet, Good Price Helmets always come down to fit, and that is subjective and specific to an individual's head. I tried on the Arai XD-4 and Klim Krios, both significantly more expensive helmets and neither fit my (very) long oval head shape. This one fit perfectly. I rode 1500km in 2 days with it and no hot spots. The good: the fit is good for my head shape, which is unusual for me. The MIPS is a great feature. The venting is relatively easy to operate with a gloved hand. The field of view is good. The interior is nice, seems well made. The bad: The lip on the visor does distort your vision, but isn't too big of a deal as it is usually well outside of your line of sight. A "crack" setting on the visor would be nice, the first indent is quite high. The peak isn't easily adjustable, seems to be made out of a flimsy plastic vs. other motocross helmets I've had, and tends to grab your head when looking around (like any helmet with a peak). It isn't any louder or quieter than other helmets I've had, and not a big deal with earbuds or plugs. One other minor point - the grey/black on the helmet is much darker than the picture shows. It is basically black.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have used this helmet on a couple of rides now and it performs as expected. Big difference coming off of a standard road helmet. Lots more space in the front of the helmet. Less claustrophobic. It fits the same as any other Bell helmet I’ve tried. Could use some more venting as things heat up quickly on technical trail riding but great for the paved stuff.

what is the difference between the Bell MX-9 Adventure MIPS Marauder Helmet and Bell MX-9 Adventure MIPS Helmet other that the tinted shield

                  Asked by: James
The Marauder is just a special graphic version of the helmet, and includes a tinted shield. Please note, the Bell MX-9 Adventure MIPS Helmet only ships with the clear shield, even though the photo shows a darker shield

Does this helmet fit oval/long style head like the Arai offers? Dont have the money anymore to buy another Arai.

No, this helmet is an intermediate oval. You can use the filter section on the website to filter the helmets by head shape. Here is a link to all dual sport helmets that are long oval: https://fortnine.ca/en/motorcycle-dual-sport-adventure-helmets?helmet_shape[0]=15191

The interior does not have built-in speaker recesses for a communication system, but there is still space to install some. You may just have to use adhesive strips or other internet hacks to install.

I'm wondering how it holds up in the rain with those two vents that don't close. I noticed a few people mentioned leaking issues so for those of you who are using it often and enjoying the helmet, has it held up well in heavier rain?

                  Asked by: Dre_LN
This is a great helmet, but is not necessarily the best design for riding in the rain. Based on other customer reviews, the helmet is susceptible to leaking around the visor area in heavier rain
