- Black is Kool-Stop's standard compound which is great for all weather conditions, but designed for dry condition riding

- Salmon is one of Kool-Stop's most aggressive compounds for extreme all weather conditions especially in the wet, but still superb in the dry

Extreme squealers
I bought these pads because they were supposed to be the best. Could not stop them from squealing. Tried adjusting the toe-in every way possible. Had a small amount of play in the mounts, shimmed them so they were tight, still squealed. Not a little but you could probably hear it a block away. Called the manufacture, no help. Had to put my old pads back on so that I could ride the bike. Now I’m stuck with four pairs of pads that I can’t use.
