The hard shell 6.5 Body protector is a new product and concept for 2021, it comes in 2 pieces, there is a zip up compression suit with built in shoulder and elbow impact protectors and also a height adjustable kidney belt. Then a full hardshell CE certified chest and back impact protector along with side protection is used over the top. This modular system will not only give you the most protection but also great ventilation and comfort. This new concept is very easy to take on and off, which is a relief after a full days riding and makes cleaning up super easy, works with or without a Leatt Neck Brace. Wish the elbow protection wasn’t an afterthought..
Hesitated a while between the body amor or chest protector only. I would have paired the chest protection with separate elbow protection. Arm protection is so important off-road! Disappointed in myself that I didn’t trust my first idea to get the elbow protection separately:-(. The chest protector incorporated to the 6.5 body armor and 6.5 chest protector sold on its own are identical and offer awesome protection for the rib cage and back. But the shoulder and elbow pads that come with the body armor kit are unreasonably small. Forget that it’s the latest technology in shock absorbing material and design. Oh yes, the areas of your arms that will have be fortunate enough to be covered will suffer no harm. But that is unfortunately a very limited amount of your shoulders and arms surface. In addition, the are no velcro straps around your arms to maintain the protection in place like many of the competition’s offering. The sleeves end up twisting and turning and you end up with no protection at all in the critical areas.
My advice: buy the chest protector and then complete your arms’ protection with high coverage elbow guards. I will soin rip the sleeves off my brand new body armor in order to have good elbow and forearm protection.

Really dont like the fit of this. The armor does not connect to the kidney belt so it never really feels secure. I would like much more if the back protector was integrated with the straps to keep it firm in place. The elbows feel alright, but leave something to be desired. I returned it, for the cost it was a let down.
