The installation on frame mounting points lends additional stability and allows for easy installation.

Broke my crank case twice!!
Was riding a on a logging road and lightly tapped the bottom. It mounts onto the Crank case that cracked.
Repaired and replaced my cover, and next ride happened again. Avoid if you plan on using a skid plate like a ski plate.
