New generation of HJC helmets are amazing
I needed a replacement for my 5 year old HJC IS-17 and this had all the features I wanted at a reasonable price. I ended up buying the Grey/Black version - the matte grey color is actually a lot darker than the pictures. Not a deal breaker because I still like the colour. The black stripe is a glossy fingerprint magnet but that's just a nitpick to come up with something negative.
The medium size was an exact fit for me (intermediate oval) just like it was for the older HJC models. The most enjoyable thing about the helmet though is the noise level. It's surprisingly quiet compared to the older HJC models I've owned. Whatever research and development HJC has been putting into their new helmets is really paying off. Add the extra large visor and internal sun visor and you have the perfect touring helmet.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this helmet.

First Ride Reveiw
I recently upgraded to the new F70. I've been riding for 5 years with the HJC CL-17 (XL size). Not a bad helmet, but this is a HUGE upgrade in my opinion. I have been stalling for a year on replacing my lid, but after watching #RyanF9 review this helmet, I was sold.
I was riding with a XL size, but it was probably a little big for my head, so I sized down on this one. F9 has a good return/exchange policy (much better than my local shops) so I wasn't too worried when I ordered. I've got a medium-long oval head, so I thought this was a good style for my melon.
First thing I noticed was the weight. When the box arrived, it was lighter than my CL-17, even with the outside and inside boxes. Nice surprise.
The fit: The cheek pads are nice and snug, giving me chipmunk cheeks, but it's secure. After my morning commute, my forehead's a bit red, but I think I just need to break it in a bit. Better than the sloppy fit of my last helmet.
The noise: I've been riding with tight-fitting earbuds the last few years to keep out some of the wind noise. Put my FreeCom4 in this helmet and used the regular speakers. There's wind noise, but I'd say it's 50% less than my last helmet. And, I'm riding a motorcycle, there's going to be wind noise. At city speed and below 100km/h, it's hardly noticeable. Faster than that, it gets a bit louder, but that's to be expected. It helps that the cheek pads extend down and seal up around my neck, cutting the wind noise from below.
A little note on the comm unit. This helmet is set up for an integrated unit, but I installed my FreeCom4. The speaker and mic pockets are nice and there are even routing channels for the cables. I just used a little tape to secure the wires in a couple of places and was ready to go.
The view: Maybe it's that my existing visor is all scratched up and needed to be replaced, but it's like going from an old CRT TV to an HD widescreen TV. I can hardly see the sides of the helmet. LOTS of peripheral view. I can see the whole world when I'm riding, which is nice.
The breeze: One of the nice things about riding is the breeze. But my head gets warm. I was a little concerned about going with a darker color helmet and one with an integrated sun shield that eliminates the brow vent. I'm pleased to report that this is not an issue. In my CL-17, with all the vents open, I couldn't feel any air movement; it was a greenhouse on a warm day. In the F70, open the vents and let the air in. I could feel it moving from my chin and over the top of my head. So nice on a warm morning.
Overall: I really like this helmet. It's only had one ride (plus wearing around the house for an hour) but it's made a good first impression on me. If you're looking for a full-face helmet, this is the direction I'd point. Good value, full-featured, and looks good too. And it was delivered quickly (and early) too.

Not bad
I wanted to really love this helmet due to the awesome look of it. Other reviews are pretty on point about noise though. Helmet sometimes whistles a bit, but will definitely whistle a lot if your visor isn't clipped shut.
No quick release for the visor had me riding home using my tinted shield when I wasn't able to undo the screws with the small screwdriver I bought with me to switch shields. It wanted to strip the screws.
Visor is also a bit of a pain to push up and push down until it clips. Requires a bit of force in both directions, where my old FJ-17 had a nice clip in the middle that you'd just hook your thumb under and would easily pop up and down.
The pro's are pretty good though.
-The helmet does look outstanding! Especially in white with gold tinted visor in my opinion.
-The fit is spot on. I used to use an old HJC FJ-17 in medium and the F70 fit exactly as I hoped it would.
-Glasses fit great! They slide in even easier than my old FJ-17.
-My old Scala Rider G9x attached to the helmet without much issue. So you don't need to buy the HJC Sena headset if you already have something.
-Rode through heavy rain one evening and it kept my head dry. No leaks!
If I could go back, I might buy something else for the money. If you're married to the style though, then this one is acceptable for the price. Hopefully HJC refines it over time.

Awesome helmet
My first recommendation, do your research online.
There are several videos on YouTube not only about the HJC F70 helmet itself but mostly about how to buy a helmet online, how to measure your head, what shape of head you have.
Then, I checked the return policy.
The helmet purchase is "final sale" in all the local shops and dealerships. Fortnine.ca has an excellent return policy, just love it!
My head is 61.50 cm
Measure your head at its largest circumference – usually just above your eyebrows in front, over your eyes and around in the back.
There are videos on YouTube on how to measure your head.
My HJC F70 Feron Black/Hi-Viz Yellow helmet is XL.
- Tight on the cheeks
The helmet was tight on the cheeks during Day 1 and Day 2.
On Day 1 my face was red because of the pressure on my cheeks (you can see the pictures). I had marks on the forehead.
On Day 2 and definitely on Day 3 it started to be more comfortable. The cheek pads are adapting to my face (or my face is adapting to the cheek pads LOL).
I feel a little bit of pressure on the lower back of my head, right where my neck starts. That's fine.
Also, you can buy thinner check pads for this helmet, I don't think I'd need them.
I've gradually been using the helmet more time. On Day 3 I had it on for 2 hours; it is good. There is no much tightness on the cheeks.
- Glasses
I use glasses. I have no problem putting on or taking off the glasses.
I've watched video reviews that this is a problem. Not my case.
- Periferical vision.
The visibility is really big. I really like it.
- Pinlock
You have to buy it separately.
Really??? This is not a cheap helmet; in my point of view, EVERYTHING should be included.
I didn't buy the pin-locks yet, so I can't tell you anything about it.
- Communications
The helmet is communicator device ready. It is ready for Senna devices.
I've decided to buy the Cardo Freemcomm 4+ (with my bike buddies group). I will update this review when I get the device and install it.
Super happy with the shipping time.
The helmet was not in stock by the time I've bought it. Once they've got and shipped it, it took 3 days to get it here in Manitoba.
I've got it 2 days before the ETA.
So far I'm happy with my purchase, I recommend this helmet and I recommend Fortnine.ca

Comfortable at low speeds
When I first tried the helmet on it was very comfortable, extremely light. I recently did my first highway trip and the wind baffle is incredible. Extremely loud, feels like your head is vibrating the entire ride. I had to put in ear plugs for the trip.
Very attractive looking helmet, and very comfortable, but the noise and wind baffle ruins it for me. I would return this helmet if I didn’t wear it.

Questions
Do you know if there are any issues with mounting a Cardo SmartH com system to this helmet as a result of the customer mounting they have for their own device? Does it come with the Anti-fog part? Do the speaker pockets work for all devices?
You should be able to mount most other comms units to this helmet, except for the Cardo Packtalk Slim model. Again, the speaker pockets will accommodate speakers from other comms units as well. The pinlock insert is sold separately here: https://fortnine.ca/en/hjc-f70-pinlock-insert-lens

Does this helmet run true to size?
According to reviews it runs a little on the smaller side.

Does this come with a 10b or 20b communicator?
The HJC F70 Mago Helmet only comes as a helmet. There is no communicator included.

I bought this back in the Spring of 2020. I am a M usually but it was too small so I got a L. The L's shell turned out to be huge, I think it shares the shell with the XL. Has the sizing changed at all since 2020 or are these helmets still gigantic?
Yeh it’s pretty huge. I wouldn’t buy it again. It’s like having a pumpkin on your head. I also found the sizing off in my case. I have a large and it seemed small for a large on the inside.
