Shoei Neotec 3 - Better
Coming from Gen 1 of the Neotec, I was expecting a good difference at over 2k with the Sena unit. Not that it wasn’t any good, but after 8 years, it could of been a tad more confortable, have much better lateral noise dynamics and a simpler integration with the Sena unit.
I’m happy to report all these little things that started to add up have been mostly solved by on this 3rd Generation.
Much better lateral noise control, visor that’s much easier to operate while riding (and using at different levels - lower than before) and a much better integration of the Sena unit (not perfect - but better).
Simply, I see Shoei a bit like a Porsche 911 - no drastic changes - but continuous ameliorations that in the end make for a better fit, finish and overall enjoyment when riding for hours or simply downtown, when necessary.
Other little things I’ve noticed after an hour of riding today, is a good locking mechanism (not a double D like on gen 1), cheek pads that are more conformable, bigger sun visor and coverage, top vent that is more aerodynamic yet operational when needed and finally the overall quietness of the helmet.
Now this isn’t a extra low noise helmet, but much improved over gen 1. Without being scientific in my observations, I would say 10 to 15% quieter in general and no more hiss when side winds hit.
Overall I recommend upgrading to the unit. It isn’t perfect, but when your looking for a do it all helmet - it’s hard to beat. Yes it’s expensive, but this isn’t the point if you’re looking at a Shoei helmet. Cheers.

And I even like the colour … great helmet
I was long over due for a helmet change and this has more then exceeded expectations. Quiet on the road, comfortable largely due to it being light weight relative to others I have worn. The versatility offered by the modular style makes me wonder why I did not switch earlier. The price is high but it seems appropriate for its class and performance. It not like a suitable alternative was going to be less than $1k.

Light and quiet for a modular helmet.
Super awesome quiet helmet. Fits my shape of head perfectly Sun shield goes low to cover all glare. Light weight, lots of ventilation, in super hot raising the whole chin is perfect.

Nice Helmet
The fit is a bit more snug than my Neotec 2 was when new. I might have been able to get away with a large in this one. It is very quiet. Ventilation is fine as well. I was able to mount my Sena 50 in the helmet without issue. This has the best shield to helmet seal of any helmet I have owned, no leakage so far. The only downside is the helmet is heavy as was my Neotec 2.

Le meilleur casque….
J’ai acheté le casque Shoei Neotec 3 après plusieurs lectures et essais de casques… quelques sorties de Spyder plus tard, je peux vous dire que ce casque est le plus confortable et silencieux que j’ai eu. Le meilleur pour moi et je vous le recommande grandement. Le coût en vaut la peine car la qualité est au rendez-vous !
