Description
The i31 is a comfortable, protective and fully-equipped open face helmet. An evolution of the i30 model, and now approved to the new ECE 22-06 standard, it features an APC polycarbonate shell offering optimum rigidity and absorption. By blending high-grade polycarbonate with high impact strength and ABS in an optimal ratio, HJC has developed a shell that is both strong and impact-resistant while maintaining a lightweight design. Equipped with a retractable sunshield, its large clear screen provides effective protection against bad weather and turbulence.

Four long distance rides since I got this helmet. Each one was 20 plus hours (Iron Butt rides) and I found this helmet comfortable on each. I also did a four day 2600k fun ride where the temperature was 40C on three of the days with no helmet issues. It fits me well, was mostly quiet, the vents worked ok and is reasonably priced.So why 3 stars? I DO NOT like the non D ring chin strap at all, the drop down sun shade will come down about a third of the way by itself on bumpy roads and the lever for the sun shade is in a dumb place. These seem to be small items but over time they are a major irritant.

Great Helmet
I have been wearing this helmet for a month now and I'm pleased with it. It a lot quieter than the HJC I30 that it replaced. The visor detents work better the visor stays open if you are riding with it up or part way up.

Does the job but not ideal.
Fit is ok but not as well as my older HJC I90. Noticable/ tiresome wind noise at speeds above approx 70KPH.

Nice helmet
I just received this helmet yesterday. Its replacing a HJC I30 which is my favourite helmet. I have a modular a 3/4 open face and the I30.
I wore the new I31 around the house for about an hour before I decided it was a keeper.
The first helmet the I30 I ordered in extra large and it fit a bit tight but after wearing it for a short time it loosened up a bit. The I31 in extra large fits me perfect so it is a tad larger I'm hoping it doesn't loosen up or on me.
The I31 has a mini buckle instead of D-rings. Overall I like the helmet and will update after the rain stops and I can try it out.

Great helmet but check the size
I have worn the helmet about 7 times now and am generally pleased. I like the drop down sun screen and the large visor. Both work well on my scooter ('64 Sears Allstate). I prefer my full face helmet for my motorcycle, but this HJC would be a good second choice.
My only complaint, which is really not the helmet's fault, is the tightness, especially compared to my Shoei full face helmet. I had tried on both a medium and a large and thought the large was a good fit. I worried the extra large would be too loose. The helmet has worn in a bit, but I encourage anyone to actually try the helmet on first unless they know their HJC size. Having worn Shoei, Arai and HJC helmets, they all fit differently. So the fit is the only reason for 4 starts, not 5, which may not be the helmet's fault.

Good fit
The helmet works for me. It is comfortable and cool on our warmer days. The main downside is that my cardo set is different to fit over lip of the helmet. But otherwise I’m satisfied with the unit

No it's a ratchet type.
