Just about perfect except for one thing.
I'm coming from a Freecom 1+ Duo and just having the voice command and phones virtual assistant is worth the upgrade. My only complaint is that I can't share music with my passenger who is still using the Freecom 1+. We can still chat during the ride but I guess the music sharing is not compatible between the two.

"Hey Cardo, call..."
We have been using the FreeCom 4's for the past 3 riding seasons and while the work ok, it is really tiring to use them. The updates are cumbersome to install, the volume wheel constantly turns itself either up or down on the collar of the riding jacket. There is some constant beeping (Android - Pixel 4 & 6) if blue toothed and at the end of the day you don't have a voice activated intercom, but a "Hey Cardo call intercom!" ..or whatever you're trying to do. Can't recommend and will upgrade to a Sena or another more user friendly product.

Impressive sound quality, would like more battery.
Our first set of communicators, so nothing to compare it to but here it goes....very surprised at how good the sound quality is. Set up and pairing is pretty good/easy. The passenger Mic does sometimes pic up wind noise and send it to my set which is annoying, but you can turn off the automatic intercom and use voice commands (which generally work well unless there is a lot of wind noise - not usually a problem on a goldwing) to turn it back on when you want to talk. radio works well as does sharing music streaming from a phone. We haven't tested on a long day yet, but I don't think the battery will last over 8 hours if streaming that whole time. could be wrong, we will see.

Great Units!
Work’s great, music sounds decent, intercom works well but does pic up a bit of noise once in awhile, nothing too terrible.

Connection issues
System keeps disconnecting even well within range (less than 100 meters). Very annoying. Other than that, good general quality.

Excellent unit with great features.
After testing out (for a season) a cheaper brand , I decided to step up to this unit. Sound quality is excellent, pairing is fast and the app (Android) works very well. Kit comes with two mics, speakers (JBL), two helmet mounts , extra velcro pieces and user manuals. Unit updated over the air as described which is super handy vs plugging it into the computer when updates become available.
Tip: In order to get it to work with the app. 1: Download and install on your phone 2. Turn on bluetooth on your phone 3. Turn on unit and then pair with your phone. 4. THEN run the app and wait a few secs to get the app to see it. Any other method doesnt work for whatever reason.
I installed this on the HJC RHPA 70ST helmet and used the stick on mount vs the clip mount.

Questions
What is the difference between the 4+ and the 4x?
This article best explains the differences: https://www.cardosystems.com/blog/cardo-freecom-4-vs-freecom-4x/

We are 2 riders on separate bikes, we want to be able to communicate with each other but listen to our own music. Does this system allow that?
Yes it does. My wife rides her own bike and we can listen to our own music talk to each other at the same time and disconnect and reconnect anytime while riding.

Is this just the headsets or is it the full system with accessories?
It's all necessary accessories to install it on your helmet

Am I able to easily swap a unit between my two helmets, or is it pick one and done? I have a full face for road, and open face for dirt. Was hoping to use one unit permanently for my passenger lid and change mine as needed.
You can swap this unit between helmets, but not easily. For your purposes, we would recommend checking out the Cardo Freecom/Spirit 2nd helmet kit.
